Me too... But I didnt like it. I think it might have been the one I tried but I didnt like the position or the Engine. Felt a bit flat to me and the position felt similar to the SV650 but just wasnt right, felt more like I was sat on top of it and not in it. Not to put anyone else off ofcourse! Give one a try... but id advise you to get a good test ride!

Id also recomend having a look at the Aprilia Falco, I like mine a lot... N' they are as cheap/ cheaper than the SVthou. Just keep your options open

Some problems have been reported with the TL clutch, but it is a slipper unit, which I'd be tempted to just weld solid if it started to give aggro. (only seen this done to an aussie TLR streetfighter) engine braking doesn't really scare me so don't feel the need for a slipper clutch anyway.

Of course it's noisy, its a Vtwin thou, what you expect?

Prone to problems like shocking handling because of the abomination of a rear shock and rock hard steering damper they recalled it to put on to cover up the horrendousness of the shock.

Also electrics, being EFI they're not too reliable, not sure whether the SV thou has this solved, but being newer the problems may not have surfaced yet.

Most of the people who I've talked to who've ridden both seem to think the SV thou is a bit neutered compared to the TL's and Raptors.

But, I've never owned or ridden either, so the usual disclaimer applies.

P.s, I nearly bought a TLS the other month, I'm not biased at all

lol i think everyone has been tempted by a TLs, i would love a TL or a SV1000 but i wouldn't like to part with my 650 as people have said they are completely different bikes (plus i wuv my 650 to much ) ,

but it boils down to the same problem, I'd probably use one more, so the other one sits in the corner gathering dust and generally deteriorating.

what are the rules so to speak for people my age test riding new bikes, obviously I'd have to wait until my 33bhp is over but would they let a 19 yr old loose on a new sv1000 as i would want a thorough test ride if i was to sell the 650 just so my mind is 100% made

ive ridden both and all i can say is i cant see the problem with the tl or its handling? yea its stiff but my sv1000 acts the same if i hammer it out of a corner (the back end kicks) i think half the problem was when the tl came out there wasnt much on the market like it and a 40bhp sudden surge at 7000rpm did shock ppl and catch them out on corners but wayyyyy its great fun and u have to respect it.
