Dunno bout the legality of the plate Quiff, but i'm pretty darned sure I could read it without me specs on...and as for the can, I couldn't say it was that loud TBH, you passed by me a couple of times or three this weekend and I can safely say mine was drowning yours out, and others made me jump out of my seat more than you overtaking.....flippin cheeky plod

She's right No point arguing with a copper or appealing against it, it'l just either land you in more do do or you'll just waste a load of time, money and energy on something that you just aint going to win over, which you could have spent doing something else more fun instead.

I got pulled by a Police (south Yorkshire) plod a few miles from home. He just wanted to give me some info on those police course things they do (might go on one) so that was cool. He said "oh ill have a quick check of the bike to make sure its safe". He checked round "said oh the small plate doesnt matter and we dont really mind loud exhausts as long as they dont take the **** as they dont affect safety". I was pooing my pants when he took a look... could have cost me if he was in that mood.

Maybe his some being in the RAF same as me helped?

My plate dont take the micky imo, the writing is still standard font and not that much smaller than the standard. Might put the standard one on though...

Hard luck Quiff. Out of interest how much were the fines?

I may be wrong, but I believe that unless he can prove your exhaust and plate are illegal you can ask for a producer for both and they cannot fine you. The police dont have special measuring eyes and the last time I checked, they cannot give the decibel reading of a noise just by using their ears. I have no problems with fixed penalties, but I think that they should have to show through the production of facts not speculation why you are getting an FP.

If the exhaust is not e-marked then it is not road legal. The police man is well within his rights to give a FP. The same goes for the plate, although its pretty obvious if its smaller than standard.

As far as i'm concerned having a small plate/non-road legal can are both choices and if you do get pulled and the cop decides to ticket you then just accept it. You can hardly complain can you! If you have a problem with that then keep your bike fully legal.

I would be complaining if i got £60 of fines, sometimes you just need a good whinge.

Seems strange about the tyre as if it was bald then he should have had it towed and given you points. Seems like more of a rectification/advisory to me.

Or maybe he was just a nob-end.

Sorry about your mither Quiff - can't you get a friendly mot man to ok the can? If it's not ridiculously loud most exhausts pass don't they?

I have a pic from today of the tyre-
it was a rec notice I got not a fine .. for the tyre anyway ..

my cam is good so I can zoom in on the tyre- u will see he was right(ish) its low- its squared off etc and the tyre man said ever likely I wasnt geting ot grips with mynew bike.. he said he wondered how i stayed on cos the front was so misshapen..
see- i thugt it was me !!.. not handling the in line 4 well enuf..

new tyres on now and its a diff beast altogether- I want to go back wales do the weekend again and show everyone i Can actually ride corners properly.. now I can tip in with confidence. , I rode crap all weekend. !

I shud go bed supposed to be goin silverstone tomoz..
