I shared a tent with him at the AR. My ears are still ringing.

At the end of the day, I thought it was quite funny getting soaked all the way through to the skin when I had perfectly good waterproof gear I could have put on. Yes I got soaked, but I wasn't cold and enjoyed the trip. I also thought it was funny that after we set up the tents and the gazebo, THEN it decided to stop raining. We had a good laugh (well I did), and it didn't rain for the whole evening and night. We got burgled during the night but all that was lost was some sausages. The decision to leave early was only because of the predicted weather and the fact we had no overhead cover should it have got bad. We had planned for it with two huge tarps, just we didn't plan on not being allowed to tie them to the trees (or even a steel fence ).

I enjoyed it. Yes the weather could have been better which most definitely would have made the whole experience so much more enjoyable, but I'd do it again for sure.

It basically didn't help that we had to stay in a Nazi camp where we were banned from having any fun. We know how to deal with wet weather: get cover up, get a fire and a brew on and get plastered. We tried to do this but Herr Komandant Fire Warden and his Fraulien did their level best to thwart us at every turn.

I'm surprised you think it was going to be anything different. We were camping in the New Forest. Saying that though, I was surprised to find we were not allowed to 'hang' anything. Next time I think we should find somewhere more rural and less organised. In other words find a wood somewhere that is err free and unpopulated. e not allowed to 'hang' anything. He he. No I haven't. I just mean find somewhere where we can basically do as we please without having to worry about anyone jumping out behind a tree telling us we can't do that or can't do the other.

We had two huge tarpaulin sheets we could have utilized for cover which would have left the option of staying regardless of the weather all that much easier.
