Do NOT buy from Bennetts Insurance

This is absolutely disgraceful behaviour...I see a 'watchdog'BBCtv episode coming on..its harrassment on a monumental scale.
I've never been one to even go anywhere near Bennets, as I have heard sooo much 'positive'* comments about them on threads here, its helped me go elsewhere

I may be wrong, but I understand it is illegal to record a phone conversation without warning the other party first. Not that that should stop you....

Most phones have the option of recording calls I believe. I know mine does under the options (Sony Erricson K550i I think it is).

My personal EXP with Bennets wasnt great, but then I didnt have to claim.

What was a little annoying is that I had to do all the leg work for getting my NCB from Motorcycledirect to them (MCD - which are a good company in my exp!!!!). I asked for my NCB to be sent from MCD and they sent them but they sent it to my RAF base address which the bike was registered at and got lost (got them after a month ffs). Phoned MCD and asked what the craic was and they said they were sent. When I let them know I didnt get them they sent them out to my home (parents) address and I got them the next day. This took 8 days.

Mean while I was getting nasty letters pretty much everyday from Bennetts asking where my NCB was and by 2 weeks I was getting letters saying send our 1 month insurance certificate back (what they gave me till they got the NCB docs) because we havnt got your NCB through. I phoned them a few days after I sent the certificates off to make sure they had them and they had... BUT I still got letters through past the 30 days I had to send the 30 day certificate in and my insurance was cancelled. Had to phone them to get it sorted as it was a little confusing and didnt want to ride around with no insurance!!!

Basically they are sloppy. I wouldnt go with them again, if it was a claim they fudged like this Id not be a happy bunny and I really wouldnt put it past them.

So...speaks to the call centre wifie who gets very aggressive with me. I then I ask to speak to a line manager who then tells me...wait for it... "we will harrass you by txt or phone to your mobile as as long as we like and we get the money" at which point I tell him that the phone call is being recorded and he promptly puts the phone down on me. Brave huh!

Incidentally the txts are totally sick and underhand. I got this one late last night...

I instantly thought ****...maybe something's happened to a family member and someone was informing me. So...I called the number straight away then got the cheeky b'stard on the phone. Totally sick tactics!

Wondering if going to the police with this might be of use.

SO...the telephone numbers they are using are below. I'm putting them here incase anyone else gets anything like it and also as a reminder for me incase I lose the txts on my phone.

I googled bennetts sucks etc and it seems I'm not the only person being falsely pursued like this. I'll try and get the linky later.

That sort of collection technique is illegal under the terms of the Consumer Credit Act. Report it to the FSA and the police if I were you.

i had the same with them when i got the sv they wanted me to end my current policy and start a new one and pay all there fees, workd out cheaper to start another one else where and leave that one running for 2 months on a bike i didnt own lol.

then they did thry the cancelation thing at the end with me, for 25 pounds which come from a letter from cars. i said to cars prove i owe the money, they tried for best part of 6 months to which i have not heard a thing about

I've just recentley left Bennetts and all I can say is never again!!! They are not worth it! I brought my sv 650 new from dealer and Bennetts could not forward proof of insurance to the bike shop.

I was insured with Bennetts in my 1st year of riding. I found thier claims servcie to be top notch, but hen again for every sotry like mine, there are probably loads like yours. Hope you get it sorted.

One thing though, did you get comnfirmation in writing of the insurance cancelation?

Nightmare story.

As soon as you are phoned, just say the call is being recorded (doesn't matter if it isn't, you "lost" the recording later), that should stop silliness from them if they have any sense at all.

They seem to work on the principle of intimidation, and like all bullies the way to deal with them is stand up to them and don't be afraid to use you rights. Great letter from Ed.

Whenever I change car insurers (on-line) the details, NCB etc all get transferred across automatically, I've never had a problem, but there again I do tend to stick to what I like to think are reputable outfits, RAC/AA/MoreThan/NU etc. Wonder why this doesn't work with bikes, or are they just being twots?

I've always had my bikes with Norwich Union and never had any issues whatsoever, think I'll stay there.
