You need a better examination Lissa, I am an A&E nurse and we always Xray wrists and ankles because of all the major little bones. The hamate, capitate, trapezoid, trapezium, lunate and navicular bones in the palm of your hand are very sensitive to displacement and can cause minor discomfort. A broken or chipped one can cause havoc in the near future if not correctly seated during its rehabilitation.

Ok, I've resurrected this thread rather than start a new one, as I'm still having problems. In both wrists now! The problem seems to be where the scaphoid meets the radius. I have almost constant pain, and any pressure on my thumb, or lifting anything even slightly heavy one-handed is extremely unpleasant. I know there was no break in my left wrist, and I certainly haven't done anything to break a bone in my right wrist, so any ideas?

I don't want to waste the doctors time if there is a simple explanation of what the problem might be, and what I can do about it.

But if you're in pain and its stopping you doing something then you arent wasting the Dr's time.

A wrist is a complicated thing, it could be anything. How's your left wrist after the intial incident is it still sore or did it recover. Are you over compensating for a sore / weak left wrist and over using your right one ?

Go back to the Dr's it might be a simple fix, it might be more complicated and you wont know till you go and you might be making it worse by trying to fix it yourself / ignoring this issue.

I think that you really need to see the doc hun... it`s been going on long enough now so obv isn`t something thats gonna go away.

You could receive loads of advice on "it could be this" or "it sounds like that" but you really need to get it x rayed or scanned to diagnose correctly.

Yup see the doc.Did you fill in an accident report at work at the time?Yes or no you may be entitled to a claim for this if you feel so inclined. You may also need some time off or time on light duties while it gets sorted, and there nothing like an ongoing claim to make employers more cooperative over that sort of thing.

My left wrist is still causing problems, Fizz. It's weird though, as some days they are both fine, another day they both hurt like Hell, then another day only one or the other is painful. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Well, I've got an appointment on Friday with the practice nurse for a jab, so I'll sound her out first maybe.

Go see the doctor!!

The .org are fine people, but we arent able to help from a distance, go back to your doctor and "bother" him!!! That is what he is paid for !!!

Ask the doc about glucosamine, it may be worth you taking it. Best to see the doc though, it's been going on for ages.
