Isn't the common response something more like:

'Well if I did then I feel sorry for the wall, and the door frame...and the house, it would have taken the lot down so its just as well it was my elbow really'

You are not alone, my cricketer mate injured himself out for half the season in a similar freak accident. He received the "Wisden Cricketer Stupidest Injury of the Season" award which did not ease his pain, nor did me telling him not to be such a wuss before realising he really had hurt himself quite badly.

Your defiantly not alone i fell asleep on a bench yesterday fell off and hurt my neck again then got up off the bench ran forward about 2 steps and fell over knocked a girl that I like over she hit her head on the bin i then face planted it so now I have a broken nose as well as aload of cuts and grazes all over it from the bloody bin :@ ruined my life last night did
