Arrived today, small pot but you only need a tiny amount. Tested on my glasses as I don't have my lid with me. Seems to work.

Looks a lot like watered down fairy liquid, as its light green with bubbles. Doesn't smell anything like it though.

I use a pinlock, which is brilliant, but will be ordering some of this Clarity Defogit tonight, to see how well it works, as the prices of pinlocks keep going up.

For the outside, Nikwax Visor Proof does the job, but as already covered here, it needs very regular applications with the current road conditions.

I've tried Rain·x to compare the difference, but saw no noticeable difference in performance, just ease of application. Rain·x is not recommended for plastics as IIRC, it can cause some plastics to become brittle.

So which was easier to apply?

Just means you get a bigger discount using 'Metro'

Glad mine arrived today - it's tiny! (15ml)

Sorry, yeah, dot the i's and cross the t's.

Short answer, if Rain·x made plastics safe product, I'd choose that any day of the year over Nikwax.

Long answer - read on...

Following the destructions, you'd think the Nikwax would be, and technically is, simpler to apply, as you simply spray on, wipe around a bit, and buff off. Rain·x, you apply with one cloth, leave to dry, then buff off any residue.

You can't leave the Nikwax to dry, as it then becomes an indestructible gelatinous mass on your visor, that smears around, which means getting a good covering and then wiping it off again. I usually apply two or three applications in one sitting, which requires a few cloths[1].

Recently, I've noticed that if I haven't buffed, buffed and re-buffed (and practically removed all trace of the Nikwax), with cold moisture in the air, the outside of the visor becomes susceptible to gathering a mist that is hard to shift.

I suspect all or most of the Nikwax repellent products are the same stuff in different bottles, and will be trying their polar proof when this runs out. I'm a year-round all weather rider, I commute and pleasure ride, and have had the same bottle of visor proof since August 2008, and I do also apply all summer to help bugs 'not stick'.

I can also recommend the Bob Heath Vee-Wipe.

Hope that helps.

[1] I highly recommend the £2.50 specsavers glasses cleaning cloths, nothing else comes close to how effective they are, and they wash well too.

I feel bad now making you type all that
But many thanks - now clear - so I won't be buying Nikwax. I've had a big double bottle of RainX that I've been using for ages. It's 200ml of Exterior Rain repellant, I don't use much and I don't follow the full instructions, but I do use it every single day. It's great for cleaning the visor and does cause rain to bead better than nothing, but I don't find the effects last very long and once the visor is dirty it's great for cleaning so I use it again. Pretty much the same for the 100ml of Anti Fog Interior rainex that I use on the inside - not very effective but good at cleaning. (both advise not to use on plastic but I haven't noticed any adverse effects)

So 'll now switch to this Clarity stuff for the inside, I'll try it on the outside but I think it will be too expensive for me when I've got rainex still to use up
