However I don't think they can be aware of where the next donor organ goes or whether they'd even check to see if you are on the list.

Other boot here; 2 corneal grafts or I'd be blind and recent donor bone graft to fill the gap where the fragmented bone was removed from my tibia. I gave blood until I got refused because of the risk of donating Mad Cow Disease.
So please give so others may receive, people. |

Erm, with regards to the being seriously injured and a 9 yr old girl needing a heart comment.....according to both what I have seen whilst attending at and helping move and log roll patients etc at A+E, whether or not and injured person is on the organ donors register is NOT their first port of call! AFAIK, thats only checked once you are dead!

I know nothing, but I thought certain organs could only be taken from a living body - not as in you're still using them, but on life support & the decision had been made to turn it off then you get ready to harvest them once you're dead, obviously not actually taken when alive as you could survive the life support being turned off
Ah right, after all that rambling (& a trip to wikipedia later) I'm right, you take the organs from brain dead people artificially kept alive. |

life's too short to walk around being upset & pished off... if you got rubbed out tomorrow and knew that you could help someone else live a longer life, would you do it?
.... and if the tables were turned, would you wish that someone else would help you out? I'm in ![]()

Yeh I missed the word BRAIN in there. But you need to be pronounced brain dead by a Dr and then your family will be asked so I don't think the scenario of them letting you die so they can take your organs will be anything like true./ |

Im not on the register but I do carry a card around with me. Matt & my family are also aware of my wishes if something was to happen to me.
I recently discovered that I could have a rare blood group as both my parents are rare blood groups. Im waiting to have a blood test to find out what my blood group is & I'll probably donate blood on a regular basis too. Maria |
