Like I said, employment is something that needs serious consideration. Its not as if we'll be some retired couple with loadsa dosh to buy a house, then realise we ain't got none to live off once we're there, and have to come back with our tails between our legs in defeat.
Its a possiblilty he could work here, but as you say, two living expenses...if he carried on working up North, I'd say theres not a chance in hell of that scenario working at all. Its one I warned him of before he moved up here.

The question you need to ask is would you be happier over there? If the answer is a definitive "YES!" then that's it, up and move if it's within your capabilities to do so.

As long as you're not running away from anything. And you can make it back here for rideouts

France is gorgeous, but the Euro has changed a few things. Shopping is way more expensive and you'll be earning less. Personally I could live with it, but I'd have to be sure of a good income before I'd consider it.

Back in 1996 myself, my wife and our two sons (4 & 9 at the time) came to Calgary. It was December 4th, 2.00 a.m. in the morning, -35 degrees. We had not jobs, no accomodation, no friends or relatives here, and had never visited before.
I now own my own company, my wife is manager of a large retail store, and both our sons have good jobs, so it can work if you are determined!
