My ex wife was type 2, her mum type 1, wife pretty well controlled it with diet, occasionally she would feel faint, her head would start nodding and she would slurr her words, eat something and half an hour later she would be fine, you have to make sure you test your self religiously, i'm sure i wouldn't want to be riding a bike and start to have the effects of low blood sugar, as you usually don't realise it yourself.

At least it's type 2 and not type 1. My dad is the worst type 1 diabetic ever, I'm still waiting for the phonecall to hear he's snuffed it. I've given up trying to drum some sense into him.

Just work on getting your BMI down (not gonna get into whether that is a good measure but it's something to aim at). Healthy food, exercise, cutting out the snacks and cutting down on alcohol. Goodluck!

Low blood sugar is currently not the issue, it is getting it down. On Monday my levels were 19.5, yesterday 17.5 so about 4 times the normal level. obviously I don't want to overdo it where hypos then become an issue.

I am officially in the "overweight" category, but not made it into the obese. That is the annoying thing as my docs screen "obese" for this. when I get to see the organ grinder I will be expressing my dissatisfaction with this practice. My BMI is 28, I know it needs to come down, addressing diet and exercise should do it.

How do I loose and keep off two stone without chopping off either my head or knob?

the thing that doctors dont take into account when doing this BMI, is muscle mass! muscle weighs more that fat, so if you're 5'10" and well built with little fat, they say you're overweight! it's all wrong, they should work out your body fat %age...

True I am well aware BMI is bollox when you have a fit muscular person. I unfortunately am not in that category.

Sad that 30 years ago, I did fell running. Had run 3 marathons. Now I struggle to run for a bus. But now determined to get rid of the beer gut and get myself at least capable of a couple of mile

I know it may not help, but I switched from full fat coke to zero or Pepsi max and have lost half a stone on that alone.

Sadly I do! Not a big fan of plain water so drink coke. I reckon the sugar I have drunk over the years would pile up high!
