Whilst you lot have been chatting, I've finished my knife!

It's not perfect, but I'm pleased seeing as I've never done anything like this before. I'll get some pics posted up...

It's a friction lock, traditional Japanese pocket knife. The blade is a core of VG10 steel with softer steel fire welded to each side. The handle on this one is stainless, but would usually be brass, engraved with the makers details. The Hattori Damascus blades cost over £100 but are beautiful.

i've tried making an ingot of folded steel to make a sword before and its not easy i had all the tools at my disposal (blacksmith) but got fed up and gave up. ended up just grinding down a bit of 10x70 SS flat bar instead. worked rather well
