Renewal from ebike came today. I'm defo switching to Bennetts now as they're coming in £200 cheaper than my renewal quote! Free RAC breakdown cover too
![]() Policy includes legal cover, personal accident cover, leathers & helmet cover, fully comp with mods declared. Sold. Bye bye Ebike. Do insurers give ridiculous renewal quotes cause they reckon we're too lazy to switch or something? |

Yes. Other companies will say things like new customer discount. But in truth they all hope we are too lazy to be bothered. Even more annoying is when you churn your details in the comparison site and your own company comes out cheaper than their renewal.

Just to chuck a spanner in the works.
Is it worth putting a data tage or the dots stuff on a bike. Mine has none but there a few data tag and alfa dot kits on the web

In my experience it knocked less than a tenner off, I bought it once because I managed to get a smar****er kit on offer for £10 - never again though.

Had to use this for the first time on tuesday. Battery suffered sudden death syndrome and went open circuit.
My experience in dealing with Bennetts and the RAC was first class. Bennetts sorted it all out from their end and RAC van was with me within 45 mins. The RAC guy diagnosed the fault and gave me a lift to the nearest battery stockist where I bought the battery. He then drove me back to the bike and fitted it, tested it and then just asked for a quick signiture before he was on his way. No form filling, no charge, no follow up calls from Bennetts. |

Glad this thread has come up. After recent incidents I may have to give them a call when my renewal comes through in December... I'd dreading it already...
At least Hastings have agreed to fix the £2900* of damage to the Street R!!! * I do think they were kicking the @rse out of it quoting that much....

Thought it would be worth adding here that I recently had a car knock my bike over whilst it was parked (see link). Damage was light but needed attention and as I was not at fault I informed Bennetts straight away.
I told them that I wanted to claim directly from the 3rd parties insurance policy rather than making a claim on my fully comp policy and having them recover the costs. Bennetts were fine with this and took all the details I had over the phone. The claims handler I was on the phone with also gave me a direct email address to send photos of the damage and position of the vehicles at the scene etc. Bennetts use an accident management company called Fourth dimension to handle assessments and repairs on their behalf. After the first call to Bennetts I dealt solely with 4D throughout the claims process. They dropped off a loan bike (Honda CBR600f) and collected my bike to go back to their premises in Egham, Surrey which I was sceptical of at first (I'm in Bristol) but they assured me that all nationwide cases are dealt with at their single repair shop where I was told they have over 100 staff trained to work on all makes/models. I was also assured that my bike would be stored indoors the whole time and not left out in the open. The time from getting my bike collected by 4D to getting it back was around eight weeks in total. This would have been much quicker had I claimed on my fully comp policy as they would have carried out the repairs asap and returned my bike to me within a couple of weeks and then would have sought to recover the cost from the 3rd party. However, as I chose to pursue a claim directly through the 3rd parties policy there had to be an admission of liability from the TP and an agreed repair cost before 4D could proceed with the repairs. The TP tried his luck and denied all blame until my witness swung it in my favour. This caused the delay but ultimately I wanted to do it this way to protect my premiums as much as possible for the future. I had to chase 4D a bit as you'd expect with any claim. I rang once a week to get an update on the status of my claim and they were always happy to discuss the case. The bike is now back and the repairs look to be of a very high standard. They've repaired/replaced parts as necessary with genuine parts and have cleaned the bike thoroughly. So basically I'm happy with the service I received and would continue to use Bennetts.
