You say this like you're surprised!
![]() Did you not check with your insurance company first? It won't be down to Bennetts to decide, it will be down to the underwriter (Redstar). Now that you already have insurance, the terms are fixed, and you cannot just start changing things that would have otherwise required a new underwriter. Quote:
If you're really worried, then put it back in the box until it's time to renew, and then have a hunt around for a company that'll cover it (Carole Nash are the best bet). You will need to do some considerable dismantling of the bike to fit the full system anyway.

Most companies don't, and will never touch a modified vehicle. Most brokers (such as Bennetts) will also want to avoid the technical argument, and just won't want to quote you.
Go to Carole Nash if you're desperate; they list companies that will cover these things, as they understand that this is a fact of biking life. Alternatively do what just about every "canned" biker in the uk does - fit it, and just don't tell the insurance company. It is thought that a company would have a hard time wriggling out of a claim just because your exhaust was a little loud.

Lesson learned. Always check BEFORE buying performance parts.
Even though you have a restricted ECU the exhaust is still deemed a performance part, plus it increases the bikes appeal to thieves. If the underwriter chooses not to insure the pipe that's their business. |

We talking about Lloyd's Equity Red Star here?
I have 3rd Party Fire and Theft with them , and got a Rene Exhaust , which I told RoadSure ( the Broker I used ) about - they said as long as it was road legal it was fine with Red Star. :P That said , I'm not going to phone them back now to confirm! |
