Only if you replace most of the bolts, protect the forks and generally give it a lot of TLC. A typical old shape Fazer (for example) will go on for longer with less care. The SV is built to a budget and delivers outstanding value for money. You just have to take a little more care with you P&J, that's all....

And as far as I'm aware, my 'Blade isn't burning oil, but thanks for the tip, I'll keep my eye on it...

Maybe it's because the SV has a broader appeal to riders of varying skill and experience. Could this be because an IL4's engine is best experienced at the top of the rev range but the kicks from a twin are more to do with the torque throughout the range? Therefore a learner/intermediate (less likely to push their limits) is getting the feedback more of the time on a twin. You can play with it without feeling like you're out of your depth.


Or is that too analytical? After 6 years of ownership the SV is now part of me. I occasionally want more but something inside tells me nothing else would fill that gap.
