Alright Grinch was there and luckily I may add and that may of affected the police response but imagine your mother or father on the phone saying someone has entered there home and you casually say wait a couple of hours the police will be there and then put the phone down. Im sorry but you just wouldnt do that and not everyone has the luxury of living near their parents, you would be on the phone to the police station demanding action asap. |

No, sorry, but you make it sound like the guy was in their front room terrorising them. Maybe the person returns, but why? They're no more likely to than some other place. If someone had broken in and stolen some stuff, that would be very different, since until the place is secured there's a fair chance they come back.
And as for my mum and dad, you're absolutely full of it. Do you know me? If someone fell into my mum and dad's garage and then scarpered while I was away, I'd speak to them and make sure they were OK, and if they needed a locksmith or a chippie and couldn't get that sorted I'd arrange it for them... I wouldn't expect the police to turn up and hold their hands while somewhere else, something more serious might be happening. That's called bolting the door after the horse's bolted. I do think the pace of things afterwards is pretty poor though... I'm not making light of the situation, it must have been a terrible shock for them all, and the damage isn't what anyone needs. And I'm not sticking up for the kid either- little p***k had no place being there. But there wasn't a mad axeman beating down their door either.

When my car was smashed up outside my flat the police came out straightaway and promised SOCO would come out that day – still waiting 18 months on. Also when my flat windows have been smashed in I was waiting 36 hours for them to come out last time and the council well I’m still waiting for them to board the window up. I lived on my own in a ground floor flat and the first time it happened it was 3am in the morning I was scared witless and didn’t sleep til they came out. What riles me is when they say they will send someone out straight away and they don’t turn up until days later that’s what annoys me

Hmm seems this got a bit out of hand, I merely meant your parents as an example, I could of quite easily used mine or anyones, it was a generic example and did not imply anything against you or your family. Neither have I claimed to know you and dont see how my point of view is seen as full of it.
Im merely pointing out that the response time to some crimes by the police is appalling. Indeed in most cases they cannot do alot as the criminal has already gone as you said but the disabled, elderly, single young woman in a high risk area like Tara basically those in the more in risk category should be treated more urgently. Anyway this is all circumstantial and the system is never likely to change ![]() |

Your opinion's not full of it, sorry I got a little hot under the collar there... It was that one bit that I sort of took exception to. I think Tara's case is a little different, there's a real difference between a deliberate criminal act and what I suppose you could call an accidental one. Likewise, a difference between a broken window, which is an obvious entry point, and a hole in a garage roof which isn't. Still, in an ideal world there'd be enough police that they could have a card at your door every time in minutes- but then, an awful lot of people would be up in arms about the price
