R&G's are the dogs...they have saved my race SV from alot of expensive damage over the years. I even have a picture of the bike sliding up the track at over 50mph and the only part touching the floor was the left hand bung and bar end..i was the one that came off worse!.

Of course there will be cases where they wont save everything..thats the nature of the beast...but so far excellent product...and the cost far outweighs the cost if you drop your bike without.

Nah, in a slide from far higher speeds a good bung should survive- if they hit something, kerb or pothole, then all bets are off but they're designed to fail if they hit something hard enough anyway (otherwise, they'd likely cause damage). I used to have the old design R&Gs, the terminalyl flawed ones, and they were brilliant when I did use them- a 70mph crash on track down a straight and into the gravel saw me replace only the front brake lever (which broke, but was a rubbish pattern one, OEM would have survived I'm sure), bar end, crash bung, rear brake lever (which was ground down, but not broken, still perfectly usable) and rear pillion peg. Oh aye, and rear subframe, but that was just because I'm pernickety

Then again, other people had them fail when their bikes fell off their stands- they were unreliable but when they worked they were ace. Motosliders offer exactly as much protection without the high fail rate, which is why I use them now- they're also cheaper.

However, I'm unimpressed with the new R&Gs. It's an excellent design, but the bungs are just too flexy. I slid mine from about 30mph, no massive impact, and the bung bent flat. I've seen them pull out entirely in similiar crashes. They use a very similiar design on other models but with a wider base on the bungs, which would give them considerably more strength. Then, the replacement parts are stupidly expensive- something like £10 per bolt, £20 per bung, plus £7 p&p. And they will always need replaced after a sliding drop, I think. So I sold them on...

But, they're the only ones that work without cutting fairing lowers that aren't just utterly crap, so that's a big plus mark.

Tested my R&G today , let the bike drop on a uphill U turn , really need to practise low speed handling

Only damage was the bent shift lever and some minor scratches on the handlebar !

They are expensive , but they did the job , and they are the best looking crash bungs

Default R+G

I have the R+G bungs on a K3 and love, them the last owner didn't have them. Which is why I had to buy a new tank, side panel, fairing frame, screen, foot peg and gear lever, mirror, bar ends, grab rail and some paint. Belive me these all these parts cost much less than £70.00 ( well that's what I told the wife ). If you get them off the R+G site they are alot more money as you say £102.00 that due to a high postage charge. Try giving Fowlers a ring they sell them at about £75.00 mine came from a local shop and only cost £70.00.
Money well spent they might not help with a big off, but slow speed or parking drop these will save you sh*t loads of money.

Well worth the money in my book, R&G's saved my bike from major damage to the panels and lowers on my bike the other week when I managed to rear-end a VFR
