I do it often now - from habit - usually when sitting in traffic that doesnt move or at the gates of crossings I will kill the bike to keep it cool. Just quicker to start when I want to get going rather than using the key.
I always do it... learned that way, and it still makes sense to me. I've been known for having some "kill switch off: check; clutch in: check; now where's the neutral, and why doesn't this thing start?!" moments... then I remembered I actually have to turn the key

..at that point nothing. I twist again and still nothing. Due to the engine braking im starting to lose speed and quickly.
I did that in Morocco, having used my left hand to massage a sore right hand from where it had been in a static position for hours, I caught the killswitch with my left and didn't realise what had happened.

PANIC! No power, bike won't restart, in the middle of the desert on the way back from Fez to Tangiers. And with no insurance, no breakdown cover, no mobile phone coverage, no Arabic and not much French, and no one around apart from the odd donkey cart, it could have been fun... Actually, looking back, it WAS fun!

some bikes like my XR400, and a mates kx220 don`t have an ignition key, so kill switch only way to turn it off. a real pain when you forget and try to start with it in for a couple of minutes, as mine is kick start only

now why cant all the manufacters have a lighted kill swith, so when you turn the kill swith on, it lights up so you can easily see what is wrong because soo many people make this simple mistake.

i done it to my old man once, but he got his own back when we were on the road by turning it off

little git

bike on the deck, engine running, in gear, wheel spinning - you'll be thankful of a kill switch.
yep i've used mine in anger... dropped the bike, smashed off the bar end and jammed the throttle wide open - never moved so fast in my life - must have looked like rossi running back to his bike

kill switch = good.
