I think the theory is to let an air bubbles in the bottle float to top maybe? Same reason why you shouldn't shake it before use. Not that I have ever consciously left it standing for a day!!

This is now getting on my nerves!!!

Rear line not yet here but still need to do the bleeding at the front lines! Sooooo a mate gave me one of those bleeding kits where u attach one end to the nipple and there is a oneway valve after that.

Sooo open the master cylinder fill it up with fluid put cover back on.
Attach the bleeding kit on the right hand caliper nipple, open the nipple just a bit and start pumping.....fluid comes through with no bubbles.

At this point the brake lever has no resistance on it at all.....i'm thinking I need to do the other one as well.

Same thing then to the left hand caliper. Open nipple a bit, attach bleeding kit start pumping, fluid comes through

BUT NO PRESSURE on the lever!!!

HEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPP

When you are testing the lever for resistance, have you closed the bleed nipples? Other wise you'll just pump fluid straight through the system, and never get any resistance.

Excluding anything like having a duff master cylinder (which I very much doubt given you have a K6) then you either have:

A- A lot of air in the system
B- The system isn't closed

I have always used a line of plastic pipe and a jam jar with a bit of brake fluid. Make sure you keep the reservoir topped up to prevent air from being pumped into the the system. Then, pump the brake lever 2 or 3 times. On the 3rd pump, open the bleed nipple and watch air/fluid run out of the nipple. As soon as it stops flowing, close the nipple. Then repeat. Eventually the lever will get firmer, but make sure you continue until all of the air bubbles are gone.

Jambo has also said:

Which is also worth trying.

Have ditched the bleeding kit and did it the old way......and it worked in far less time than it took me with the bleeding cr*p.

now i'm waiting for the postman to bring me the rear line which he said he forgot in the office as it was a recorded mail in a different bag!

then i'm out to test my bleeding

the rear line didn't turn up so I rang HEL and they said they hadn;t sent one out

fitted the original one as i need the bike and asked them to send me a proper one in length....original one is about 36cm from eye to eye and they sent me a 42cm line

test tomorrow to see if brakes are ok and if they need anymore bleeding

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from HEL this afternoon... We should start a sweep to see how many bits are wrong I bet... They leave out my extra crush washers, and send the wrong size of bleed nipple and pressure switch bolt. And the lines are too long.
