I've got an i3 and it works fine. I've got it on a mount attached to the bike and I stick a freezer bag (thicker than a sandwich bag but clear) over the top with a hairband/rubber band to hold it in place. It doesn't look ultra cool but it works for the budget. i3's are always on offer for £99 and have been for the last year or more, don't pay any more - look at comet, argos, woolies, halfords, etc. and one will be doing them for £99.

I've had no problems with the bag leaking in freezing fog or heavy rain, and it lets you operate the buttons even with bike gloves on. The i3 has some of the best support on the net - do a search for pocketgpsworld and sign up to their forums.

The only downside to the i3 I've found is you can't program a route, it chooses it's own way to get there... but none of the cheap ones I've seen let you program an exact route (e.g. a circuit round some of your fave roads on a Sunday). I've had mine for over a year now, dropped it twice, sent the bike down and icy road with it and it didn't even turn off) and got free map upgrades from Garmin earlier this year. For the money, I've not seen anything better.

The reliability thing with i3's is an issue I've heard of before, and there's more info of this on the pocketgpsworld site. All I can say is I've had no probs, and most people get on fine with it.

i've been through a few tomtom riders - i wouldn't recommend them. the cradle aint as waterproof as it should be and they can stop charging after a bit. i'm probably gonna go for one of the o2 xdas with built in gps, as a i can't be **** with seperate receivers.
