When I forst got my SV it had the 9 plate battery instead of the 12 plate and was a bit of a b@stard to start if it didn't go first time. My kid brother had never been on the bike of a bike and was itching to get on the back of the SV so he bump started me in 2nd. BY the bottom of the street and 2 close fires he looked knackered. 1 last go got it fired up and he loved it

I managed to bump mine once with the help of a guy pushing, 3rd gear get it going dump clutch bang ass down on the seat and it fired, i pulled the clutch in as soon as it fired and gave it a good hand full of throttle to make sure it was alive

But i agree with northwind about bumping it cold, what a bitch

I jump start it now by putting the neg (black) jump lead on the engine mounting bolt and touching the poss (red) lead on the starter terminal, with ignition and choke on of course only problem is that i've jumped it so many times, the chrome has started to come away from the bolt

I kicked my SV once. It didn't start, just hurt my foot.

It deserved it (the bike that is, not the foot)

I've heard it helps if your a fat tw*t. I'm not (but getting there) so have never been able to bump start mine either. Saying that, I've only ever tried once and thought "that's not going to work" so have never tried again.
