Noooo! sorry to hear this- Absolute scum!! I hope you recover it and the thieving sh!ts somehow 'lose the ability to walk', if you know what I mean.

There seem to be a spate of these on the forum at the moment- I hope not a coming symptom of the summer. Looks like I'll be persuading the landlord to let me sink a ground anchor into the back garden (though in 2 years, my Bro's bikes have not been touched- though they aren't very visible from the road and there are always plenty of tenants of our flats knocking around, plus the landlord and handyman....

Also my chain is locked using a disk lock that is alarmed and you only have to breath on it and is bloody loud. So they would have that going off whilst they remove the wheel. In that case the garage is less safe than parking outside as they can hide the sound better.

Might be worth getting an alarmed disk lock next time.

Was the bike alarmed?

I feel very sorry for you cos if mine was nicked and I had to claim I wouldn't be able to afford to reinsure so I'd have to bank the cash and quit riding for 5 years or something! I just wouldn't own a bike if I had a flat. I would at least want a garden closed off from the outside world.
I'm very happy to hear you have a nice heavy chain and that you wouldn't have a bike if you lived in a flat like me. I'm really really happy to hear that you feel sorry for me too, and I'm sure I'll take your advice and get another alarmed disk lock too. For your information, the bike was alarmed, immobilised and had a disk lock on it. It was nicked to order, they came in a van with all the tools to take it apart there and then. Also for your information, my Almax chains were nicked months ago, it only takes a few seconds with an angle grinder.

Lets hope no one nicks your bike and you have to read how someone feels sorry for you and then tells you how marvellously secure their bike is.

To everyone else, thank you for your support, it really does mean a lot. I'm going to be posting a pic and details tomorrow when I get a chance so if you do spot a black and silver gixer K6 that match let me know!

If someone wants it bad enough they will have it whatever. The best you can do is the best you can do. Anything to act as a deterant to the opportunist.

Truly gutted for you Kate. Fingers crossed.

I know how you feel Kate, mine was recovered, luckily it had not been dropped only the locks were smashed and the petrol filler cap forced. It never felt the same again, sort of like wearing someone elses shoes.

I hope you get it back.

Awful news... Just makes you so angry. Hope insurance pay up nicely so you can replace it.

Follow Beenz's example in future, his gixer has so many locks, chains and anchors the thief would be too knackered to steal the bike after trying to remove it all - it would be quicker to lift his whole garage!!

Awwwwwwww Kate, thats really not good news at all. Youre not having much luck with bikes at the momnet Lets hope that your luck improves babe and that the boys in blue do some work and find whos responsible, and introduces them to Joe!!!

Do your get a courtesy bike whilst you wait for the insurance money??
