This is a very reassuring thread to read! My wife is currently expecting our first and has got 5 weeks to go. We're both papping ourselves, although we're very excited too.
People here at work keep saying how terrible it will be! I know the first 6-8 weeks might be tough but it can't be that bad...can it?! So thank you for an inspiring thread and giving me something to look forward to. ![]()

We found out about the kids coming the night I packed my job in. We were going to Gran Canaria next morning for two weeks before I started a new job, about 7.45 pm the phone goes and this voice says 'hi dad' I vaguely recognised the caller but it wasnt until she repeated it that I realised it was our social worker Yvonne. I just knew instantly that this was the call we had been waiting for for a long time. I had to hand the phone over to the missus cos I couldnt speak, too choked up, the social worker explained we had two little girls waiting for us in Manchester. The kids had been told they were getting a new mummy and daddy so we told Yvonne we would cancel the holiday immediately but she said no you are going to need a break before the storm. So we went to Gran Canaria and spent the whole holiday trying to work out what thay might look like etc. Social services try to physically match your appearance with that of any kids to make it easier for all concerned, me and the wife are both shortish and dark haired, so what did we get ? two blue eyed blondes !.lol ah well happy days

When my first son was born, about 20 minutes after the birth, they took my wife off to have a shower and stuff, and left me holding this tiny baby in my arms, in the delivery suite on my own. He looked up at me.... ...and I cried like a girl....... Now he's an opinionated seven year old who's decided he wants to be a scientist. Everybody says it and it sounds really cheesy but its true.... They do grow up so fast..... |

![]() ![]() No, because its an 18. I've lost count of the number of times I have seen a parent co-erced into buying an 18 game for kids as young as 9 or 10. Its an 18 for a reason, but thats a rant for another day and another thread.... |

I know that feeling... OK, I was trying to write something more about it but sorry, I can't find the words to describe it.

I know it's cheesy but one of my best moments was when my son was in his school's Christmas play a couple of years ago. He was a sheep (no.1 sheep in fact lol) and was concentrating so hard on his singing etc. he looked out into the audience at the end of the play when everybody was clapping and when he spotted me and his dad he just gave us a cracking smile...his little face was beaming...bless!
He can be infuriating but I love him to bits ![]() |
