Seen some of the clips before....all together I found that my brain protected me and switched off part way through. My overwhelming impression was that it doesn't matter what I do, some idiot could kill me with their car.

I arrived on the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident 2 weeks before Christmas. After seeing someone's life ebb away and seeing the aftermath of the crash as I waited for the casualty to be taken away and police formalities; I was shocked and stunned.
Riding onwards down a misty, empty, dual carriageway (the road was still closed behind me) I was riding like a nana all the way home. I had nightmares and worked from home the next day; after that my self defence system kicked in and I am now back commuting 130 miles a day as before, as though I'd jsut seen it on the net.

I suspect that just like anti smoking ads, people will inure themselves to the image, or believe them to be outright propoganda, thus diluting any effect they may have.

Maybe my skin is too thick, I think my job has helped. I know how you feel bluninja, after witnessing something similar in April I even stopped riding for a bit as I just couldn't concentrate. Eventually though you get back on the horse and carry on. My riding has changed but not sure how long that will last. The clips made me think a bit about how I ride, so it did it's job as far as I'm concerned. Good post embee.

Not sure if I'm missing something looking at other comments, but I thought the video is about making you think about what you do as a driver on the road and to stop people driving dangerously, it's not that you could get killed if you go out - that's not a message anyone would give?

Most of us on this site know each other personally, this site is designed to encourage meetings and ride outs. I actually think that this forum isnt JUST the interweb but a forum of friends.

Thatīs what makes this site so different from others so please dont put down others efforts to put accross their views in a polite manner.

I feel I need to explain why I've just editted the link:

It was effective. Very effective...

... but it weas also very effective in many different ways - one of which was, in my opinion, to breach the U-rating of the site.

Yes - I know there are graphic images of the aftermath of Big Ape's accident, along with the many images posted over time of people x-rays, broken bikes etc. However, there is a cetain level of 'sanitisation' that happens purely because they are 'afterimages'. These were not and therefore I felt were in breach of the U-rating.

EDIT: PS, I don't wish to stifle the constructive disscussion that has been going on in this thread however - that, I think, has made for interesting reading.

Yes I am. I also meant to add a smiley so as not to cause any offence.

I know what you mean about us all being freinds, I've met lots of amazingly great peeps from this site (including you Anna). Like I said, maybe my skin is jut too thick (or I am too thick......)
