I'd think about a nice comfy bmw, they have some sport tourers. If I needed a stable comfy reliable a-b bike that'd be a main consideration for me.

VFR might be a good buy, they are pretty quick and comfortable and sound sweet with a Zorst on

hello mate, i run a 1050 tiger which covered 40,000 miles last year alone. before that i've had a couple of honda transalps. you could do worse than take a look at one - you could get a mint low mileage 1 and a half year old with panniers for the money. they arent the quickest bikes on the road (will sit at 85/90 mph all day long) but they are mega reliable, cheap to service, good on fuel, very easy on tyres (£125 ish a set) and with a scotoiler very good on chain and sprockets. they do handle well (I could get the pegs down in the dry) cheap to insure and easy to sell on even with high mileage. and they have a brilliant forum! Well if it did not happen to me I would not believe it!!!

I received the first official offer for the Job on Friday.....I thought a mistake was made regards the money for the role. After clarifying that they were serious (going through a recruiter so mistakes were possible, if unlikely) I declined the offer.
Today they revised the offer but it was still significantly lower than what the GF and I agreed should be the lowest acceptance point. So I declined that too.

Not sure if the employers are using the fact that people might be more desperate/scared for any job at the moment and are offering the money that is significantly lower. In this case nearly 25% lower, than what I know is the normal market rate.

Never mind, all it means is that I will not be in need of another bike in the UK, and most probably will have to spend another year in 'Jonny foreigner' lands.

Big thanks to all who came up with the suggestions...was appreciated even if I can not put your advice into practice.
