Not meaning to be offensive. But is it a woman thing? Because I've never felt the urge to give a flying bonk what anyone thinks of my riding unless their veehickle has blue lights on it.

I dont think its a female thing. Liz is very confident on the bike and she doesnt care two hoots what anybody thinks of her riding. One of my ex's had a Ninja 6 and she didnt care what anybody thought either, she said to me she was slow but she just liked doing her own thing and didnt care.

Its a confidence issue I think, just wanting some re-assurance that you ride OK, I've met blokes that are the same abou their riding.

women are a little more emotionally sensitive. Men have to be emotional once their balls have been squashed in a vice....that usually works
Some women get very upset when people poke fun at their riding, and subsequently their confidence gets knocked. Its just taken me a fair few rideouts with people other than in my little circle to get my confidence back. I specifically asked a pair of orgers when they rode behind me to look for anything I did wrong. The only thing they came back with was that sometimes when its clear I still don't quicken up. I asked if my rode positioning was ok, spot on they said. I actually wanted them to pick holes to show that it was me that was at fault.

Im Indoors takes the pish out of my riding and all it does is wind me up to the point of wanting to stove his head in, and also others that may want to play the little game with him.
Which is why now I revert to taking the pish out of their riding instead, and picking holes in their riding styles if theres room to do so, in an attempt to show that I'm not the only one with flaws. They certainly aren't superior in riding ability sometimes.

I'm a very confident fast rider - I love riding and used to go off and about at every opportunity, ask Martin at A & D's lol he dubbed me "the stunt woman" through riding sideways on a CBR6 (even been known to go green laning.......ouch) I simply never get to go out anymore though because I didn't own the SV my OH did and and he never liked me going out by myself BUT could just never be arsed to go with me either.

Don't listen to him girlie, you get those keys off him and don't give 'em back. He has absolutely no right to belittle you like that, especially with only 9 months experience! Boggles the mind how arrogant people can be! You have passed the requirements needed to ride legally on the road, so clearly someone thought you knew how to handle a bike

The folks who've said he's just looking out for you, well I'm sorry but I just don't agree. If he cared he'd be more concerned about you getting as much experience as possible, how the hell are you supposed to do that when he's got control of your freedom like that? The whole attraction behind biking is being able to get out on that road independently without complete tw4ts abreathing down your neck in such a negative manner. If he's not careful he'll have effected how you ride in the presence of people in general, making you paranoid about what everyone is thinking of you, basically spoiling your whole experience. It's just not on.

You never know, he might just be jealous. There's every possibility you're riding better than he is and he feels small, people are funny like that sometimes If he can't sort out this ridiculous attitude problem then I'd get rid personally. I couldn't stand someone having that much control over such an aspect in my life, if YC acted like that....oooo well I won't go into what I'd do to him lol!

Also, you've been on a rideout, did anyone comment on all your "bad points" then?

if he's reasonable show him this thread, and let him stew for a while.

if not, keep him frustrated for a few weeks, always works with me

I'd take that a step further and say that some men also get upset about it to.

I'll tend to avoid the whole "whats my riding like" scenario as 9 out 10 times in my experience it ends to upset / bad feeling.

I've not read all the comments but your OH sounds like he wants you to obey his whims under the guise he's doing it for your own safety. He's not. Tell him to jump off that ego trip, realise he knows about as much as anyone else with less than a year under their belt and start being supportive or **** right off.

He's treating you like a kid and that shows how much respect he has for you, locking up your toys!
