You were stopped by a copper who is human and has common sense and judgement.

If it was 5:30am and there was no workforce in the road at the time, the why was your offence any more dangerous than a normal 70 mph limit? Unfortunately there are not enough coppers on the road who can make these judgements, and too many revenue generating scameras.

BTW, I'm actually a fan of average speed cameras (would be more of a fan if they switched them off when there is no workforce in the road tho), and I'm a fan of the cameras used to enforce Active Traffic Management systems such as those on the M25 and M42 because they are effective, hence generate little revenue, and achieve the aim of improving road safety.

It's only ineffective and revenue generating Gatso's and Scamera vans, located in places only designed to catch as many ordinary people as possible, that pi$$ me off. Go and park the scamera van on a dangerous junction instead and people will applaud it instead of getting ****ed off!

6 points within two years and goodbye license is what i've been told. Then again I know of people who have been done for speeding or had an accident ........they escape points and go on a 'drivers improvement course'. That does not happen in Northern Ireland as far as i'm aware. It's a case of take the points!!!

I've been told that a driving license covers what you're qualified to 'drive' be it a car or bike etc as they are on the 'same license' so 3 points for speeding in a car also hits the bike part of the license too. Motorcycle insurers often ask "any penalty points in the........." and they probably take into account any offences from driving the car.

I know of a person who got done on the bike whilst within 2yrs of passing their car test and as far as the rest were concerned they were going to lose their license....no ifs or buts.

You never know you may get a 'drivers improvement course' sent your way instead of 3 penality points.

Thats your answer;

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...ers/DG_4022566

But I would suggest taking it easy, also as it says if you get 6 more points you licence can be taken off you. Just casue you get 6 points doesn't means you will lose as an automatic thing, depends how well things go in court ect.

Many people think a licence is their civil right, far from it. Its is a privalge which if you abuse you should lose it.

even with 6 points in 2 years, surely you would still be entitled to ride a 'scooter - sub 50cc' on your car licence?

Just a thought, i dunno really

The key words that people are overlooking though is that your licence is revoked - its not like a totting up ban, as I understand it. If you're done through this method, your licence is wiped as if it had never existed, and you have to start again (presumably with CBT).

People should feel for the guy at my work is a Duke 998 and 9 points . All due to speeding and he still does. He quite often sees three figures on the long residential straight near where we work! (30mph limit) . He is the type of guy that, if he got banned, would be everyone elses fault apart from his own
I've done 150 mph while I'm on 9 points. glad I didn't get caught

No, you lose your car licence too seeing as you only ever have one licence.

You can ride a push bike though

Exactly right. You even have to apply & pay for your provisional licence again
