I'm getting a strom soon so i'll tell you what the point is (is i can work it out) in having one. I do intend to use it off road a bit too though. So it will break.

No such thing as a wrong bike. Just the wrong trip.

VFR800 VTEC...

WHY have VTEC on a bike!?!? Dont say its for fuel because my bike out does it on economy and I got 220cc more cap. Why isnt it a Litre bike with no VTEC or at least variable valve timing like the Kawa 1400GT?

Bah.

How many rectifiers you gone through?

Its to optimise the engine characteristics at various rev ranges, one benefit might well be fuel efficiency but that depends what the engine is tuned for. Conventional cams can only realyl be optimised for one part of the engines range, the rest is a compromise.

'Cos they can? True the VTEC does not seem to add anything to the bike over the 800FiX, but maybe it meets emissions more easily?

I don't buy that your bike is more economic with fuel.

Well... buy what you want (more fuel ) Me and my mate with one did a 800 mile trip, he got 46mpg I got 54mpg.

BTW dont get me wrong, I like the VFR's... I just dont really get VTEC. As to Flymo, I know your right about that, but then variable valve timing beats VTEC every time in that respect.

Aye, but that could be down and probably is IMHO, to differences in riding style, rather than one bike being more fuel efficent than the other.
