In our force any officer or PCSO can issue them, just has to have some "evidence" that a particular bike/car has acted in an anti-social way.
seems a shame that there is nothing like this for all the adults that want to brand everyone under the age of 21 as a yob yoof ned (insert your own stereotype) without talking to them. all our ASBO's are served to adults who behave far worse than any supposed ned - and we have no ABC's or under 16's behaviour contracts - in fact all of those under 18 involved in ASB were resolved by - wait for it - talking to them and explaining the situation that their behaviour creates for others and yes that did include 5 on motocross bikes without helmets - they now have helmets and ride with more consideration - without getting the police (either type!) and no repeat offending so give the guy a chance - there's been enough complaints on this forum that we are never given a chance and that we've never been shown leniency - why not lead by example? Just shows the difference a border makes in attitiude Rant over. |

What I didn't put in my original post (because I thought it might drone on a bit and be rather boring) was that my father-in-laws neighbour who is the carer for his blind wife (used to see clearly but had an accident) tried to speak to the person in question and when that failed tried his family. The PCSO issuing the Sect 59 only did so after the yoof in question laughed at the reasons for her being there and had the usual "AM I BOVVERED" response. |

Quedos, I hear what you're saying, I really do. However, many people are very intimidated by groups of youngsters, me included sometimes. The lads where I used to live were not the kind of lads you could just talk to one on one.....they would spit in your face and follow you home just to intimidate you. There are many of these types of kids around that simply don't care what effect their behaviour has on others. I feel sorry for the good kids that get tarnished with the same brush, but it's not always sensible to advise people to go up and talk to these kids, especially not when in groups. There was a woman stabbed last year in Barrs Court by a group of lads on mopeds because they were blocking her driveway. She didn't even get out of the car or beep the horn at them. She just opened the window and asked them to move. She got a knife in the arm for it and they only lived in the next street, so you can never be too careful. That was in a nice area as well.
There's no way of knowing which kids are going to be ok and which are going to cause you problems or laugh in your face. Better to leave it to the police unless you actually know them. |

Ha.....Stretchie will remember this one too. We were in the car and driving out of our street. At the Junction with the main road, a lad was sat on his moped. Just him, helmet pushed up and was texting on his mobile. He was sat across the junction, so not leaving room for us to get past. Dan asked him to move, he gave us the finger. We waited, not wanting to have a scene. A few minutes past and we were getting MAD. Dan asked a few more times and still the kid would just turn stare, give us the finger and finally ranted something at us before skidding off.
Some people can just be a nuissance and they enjoy it.....what can you do??? |

![]() In your case then yes it was the required course of action because he tried had it been in I would have showed that at least he tried. and nobody can fault anyone for at least trying. it just disheartens me to see everyone take the punishment route before anything else and that seems to be the way the English /Welsh go ( i have no stats for Ireland - yet) - i know the Scottish councils are not perfect but they do seems to give them a chance (and that might be the wrong way) GG - i know where you are coming from and maybe there is a tint of rose colour dealing with the complaint of a groups of ned are hanging around outside my garden day in day out. and i'm sure that many feel intidmidated and its a very personal decision. there are group i wouldn't approach all i suppose i'm trying to do (apart from stirring it and getting on peoples wick - sry GRH) is highlight that there is anothe option esp if the next door neighbours lad seems decent - a quick word might kill the problem. ( the first thing we ask is have you spoken to XXX about it). And to challenge the misconceptions personally i would proabably shove the little s*** off and let him learn the hard way ![]() Last edited by Quedos; 10-08-09 at 01:15 PM. |

knock him off slowly just keep going up to him and stop just before you hit it will unnerve him and then you should be able to push him off. it a great one i've seen done round here - they get themsleve un blanace and fall off without any one touching them I know there are few that are like that round here and i wouldn't approach them. Garry hate me working in ASB as i get wound up so easily on things and my views aren't consistent - depends on what i've been working on durign the day apologies for being a fickle burd! |

Hey, we can all be fickle......we're female so it's allowed! The only time I'll ever use a vehicle to get my point across is at the traffic calming chicanes with a give way. Where I used to live, there was one very close to the house and you'd always get the Audi/BMW drivers ignoring the give way sign and blasting through regardless of those with the right of way. I used to approach and just keep on driving. It helps being in a big Land Rover, but I just drive until the road is blocked by the other car and cross my arms. I only actually had to sit there like that once and the guy beeped like mad for 30 seconds, then got out the car and told me to move the f*** out of the way. I said, "my right of way mate, so you better reverse or use the kerb, but you were in the wrong, you sort it out. Ever heard the old adage, "less haste more speed". He was mightily ****ed off but I was taller than him in my drivers seat, had two barking dogs in the car, which was covered in mud, big nobbly mud tyres etc and he knew he was in the wrong. He chose the pavement option. I wouldn't have done it if it would have held others up, but it was just the two of us, so I sat there and stared at him and waited.....felt fantastic! |
