![]() The other option is that I just smooth it off and spray paint it. My current top yoke is black anodised, so a nice smooth paint finish could look quite nice. It has a small Suzuki Badge that was held on with some glue and that popped off very easily. ![]() Oh well, it may well be good exercise to help my right shoulder heal too. ![]() |

I have started polishing the top yoke. Due to shoulder injury, I am doing it by hand so that I can use the gentle exercise to repair the damage to my muscles. Carol has suggested polishing mops and the like, but we will see. I have a heap of Wet & Dry paper, a tube of Alloy polish and a big plaster on my thumb.
![]() I have started with 400 grit and so far have a nice smooth shiny surface on the bits I have done, however as I finish each stage I will swap to a less course paper. I must admit that I am really enjoying it and can't wait to see how it looks at the end. Bring on the 1200 grit! ![]() |

Sounds like a plan, Carol my darling partner has already suggested which bits she would like to see polished up, well it would not be seemly to have a common looking bike! I am just waiting for the polishing kit to arrive and then I am going to make lots of mess and have mirror smooth shiny bits when I am done. I love my bike... oh and the wife.

Hi,
Think this is about my second post but suffice to say I've been stalking the whole forum for months! So hello again. I've been looking at doing a similar conversion to my own K6 S and have recently aquired a K4 N top yoke & bars. I was wondering how Jayneflakes had got on with the work you'd planned? Particularly as I have only today discovered a potentiel problem (on the U.S. forum) with the existing bottom yoke & Naked top yoke? So whilst I'm here anyone else know of any problems? Appreciate an update from yourself -Jayneflakes. And any furthe input from anyone else, rrealise this thread 's about 3 months old but very relevent. |

Awww, I am always amazed that people read my posts, so thanks for asking.
Progress is slow at my end sadly, mainly due to low income (about to get lower) and having too many hobbies. So far the Top Yoke has been machined down to accept new risers, which have also been machined to allow them to fit over the tank. I just need the new Bars and I can start the rebuilding. I have worried that the top yoke wont fit, but by placing one on top of the other, they seem just fine. I can't see any reason why it wont. My biggest worry is getting the bars to clear the fairing once they are fitted, but I think that with the lay back risers, this should be OK. However, there are many on here who are far better mechanics than I will ever be and I would refer you to their wisdom. ![]() |
