Oh Spidey, no. No deffo not. The Star Spangled Banner is NOT just a bit of cloth. It represents the American struggle for freedom, it is deeply ingrained in the American psyche.

On BBC News 24 tonight there were all these Muslims burning the US flag - over one pastor of a 50 member church. FFS. I suspect that the average American citizen supports Pastor Terry Jones. Their soldiers are giving every bit as much as ours, for a symbolic ungrateful Afghan nation that plainly would prefer to live under Taleb rule. Always men of course, as even under 'normal' rule the women are so oppressed that they aren't allowed out of the house. Why do we bother, the price of it all is simply too much.

Why is it acceptable for these people to burn US flags and yet not acceptable for a US pastor to burn a Koran????

These people shown on TV are savages, if they want to live uner Taleb rule then so be it, and save ourselves a terrible cost. And yet so many Afghans are terrified of Taleb rule, why is it that the mob is in ascendancy? Why have so many NATO servicepeople died and yet there appears to be no change in Afghan attitudes toward the west?

I am only saying what many of you are thinking,

,
Because, quite simply put Ed, two wrongs don't make a right.

So it's an international version of the schoolyard favourite "but they did it first"

Perhaps some people aspire to be better than the idiots on both sides of this cluster****

I see this thread plunging deep into political and religious depths, way too deep for me

MBK and TLW - it's not me you have to convince.

It's the United States of America.

I'm an Athiest, but I can see the error in burning another man's Holy Book of whatever..

Being desperate for media attention is no excuse for inflaming an incredibly delicate situation and putting innocent people's lives in jeopardy.
