I'd laugh.
Because it's basically buying a 'replica' of something, showing it off, and them knowing it's not the real deal.

Ironic if you're a photographer.

It costs around £9 to see a blockbuster movie now which does actually seem a hell of a lot but consider that a film generally lasts 3hrs if you account from arrival to departure of the complex. Your £9 over 3 hours is £3 per hour, but in getting from your car to the cinema seat you've encountered 3 (min), those 3 members of staff are all getting paid using your money. So unless they're earning £3 and the films is getting zero then you need about 9 people in a screening just to pay the wages of the staff who you've encountered. That doesnt include the ones you don't see, cleaning the bathroom, putting the film on etc. Thats completely disregarding the overheads such as lighting and equipment even down to the landscaper who cares for the bedding plants in the car park needs paying.
Obviously the actors have the largest individual personal payment but consider the money taken per grouping, ie If an actor is grouped with their management, make up teams etc, your cinema is another group, the studio is another group, the cameramen/sound guys another group, catering another group all those groups required a sum as well and all that comes from your £9 when you break it down and think about it the actor gets less than 1p of your £9 so the arguement of "they earn bloody plenty" is exceptionally weak

Maybe they should charge me for he music that plays in my head?

I'm gonna need a second job if they work out how to do THAT!

The old gents and dears who do it Would certainly claim its ok and not criminal at all even though it is stealing part of the product.

Although in this case you are affecting the product eventually purchased even if not by much.

This is not really a thread about the rights and wrongs of downloading music.

Its about the Censorship that has now been placed over those of us that use an ISP that is obeying a court order which has the purpose of enforcing thought-crime by making it impossible for you to do something that is deemed by a Judge to be "wrong".
SK said it not me!!!!

Sadly Orwells predictions have all but come true.
Well its like super injunctions, pay a judge £60k minimum and your laundry will never be aired

Would you continue to laugh when people didnt bother to buy your art? Eventually you would think "hang on, this isnt fair"

If they wouldn't pay for it anyway, I have lost nothing.

One of their friends may see the photo, like it and then come and pay me for the original.

So I would get free advertising.

If I cant make a living from it, then time to give up being an artist and find a job that pays the bills.

in theory I ought to feel the same as the guy who designed and built his house, planted his garden and then had a photographer come along and take an image of it for sale.

Apparently if someone takes a photo of me they can charge me for it but I can't take a photo of the photo of me... If a photo of me can be art then I reserve the right to be art myself.

That's actually a great idea, a community of people posting cuttings from their own gardens to each other... Although pesky laws on transporting organic matter would get in the way.

Perhaps, and in time maybe that will happen to the music industry. Lucky for me I dont earn my living that way.

It doesnt make it right though.
