The sensor in exhaust doesnt stop it from popping does it ?

No it's to do with the fuel injection side of things I think, you have carburettors on your bike which when the engine is killed will keep chucking fuel through the system, when you restart it ignites the excess fuel/mix up the exhaust.
Not sure of the exact reason why it's harder/impossible on bikes with fuel injection (and throttle bodies) I imagine they cease injecting fuel when the engines killed.
