On the track you're interested in maintaining the correct line/lean. You can use your knee to do this, but it will require some of your attention.
On the road you're not so interested in doing this, because it's not wise to be riding on the limit of grip (so you don't need you knee to give you an idea where it is) and because it frees up some concerntration for observing the road. Imo, of course. |

Nope. Haven't tried either, too afraid that the rest of me will follow. And having had the rest of me following once, I don't want to do that again. Big Ape is right - it's damn painful
![]() But I still wish I could do it though |

Took my mate on the back the other day, he got his hand down on a roundabout, so i might give it a go when i get some propr leathers. Also, i'd like to say my chicken strips are smaller than my dads

I think it would be fair to say that you can ride bmw's and other heavy bikes in a different way than you would something like the sv. Dont you think becaause the bike is heavy and they have higher bars a sit up postion is more productive. Bar postioning is very important look at the way supermotos get incredible lean angles riding with a much more moto cross sit up and push the bike away from you style - you couldnt ride a sports bike like that! apart from anything a racer once told me that everyone has there own style and if you feel comfortable moving all over the bike and your quick and safe then do it, if not then dont |

no, never done it. Never done a track day too. Here in greece you don't want your a$$ anywhere alse but exactly on the saddle because in most roads you're expecting instant oversteering so if your knee is touching the road its hard to control it. So what i want to say is that i'm used to only lean my uper body, better safe than sorry.
