Thanks mate, too dark now, will check tomorrow.

Btw, wasn't crashed that I was made aware of but had a "stationary drop" on either side according to seller.

Ok, no sign of damage to the steering stop. What I have just discovered though is that my 4mm axle gap on the right fork is actually a thin spacer...I'm thinking that shouldn't be there? (and if not where the hell should it be!?).

Look at this parts diagram, i think you are talking about part 6, if so its ment to be there.

Hmm, it's hard to tell from that whether No 6 is running through the inside of the fork - on mine it looks like it's on the outer edge but it may just be that it's not pushed into the fork correctly (but wouldn't think so 'cos the axle was torqued appropriately). Think I'll need to get the front end off tomorrow and start again. *sigh*

Edit: the thing that's confusing me is that initially I thought the brakes were binding but then I find it's the caliper housing making contact...so the weird thing is that it wasn't contacting before, and all I've done is take the caliper off. I'm thinking I may have bent the brake disc (but then my axle ain't right either ).

Thanks for the help btw TSM.

Woah

No offence, but if you're going to get arsey why bother posting? I'm just a noob looking for some help and as you can see I'm getting multiple and differing responses here.

If you check my last 2 replies on the previous page I confirmed that I tried your method and it didn't work - I also confirmed (and agreed with you) that it wasn't the pads that was touching, it's the caliper housing.

So I'm not obsessing about anything. The spacer #6 (as per diagram) was NOT through far enough - and FWIW you hadn't mentioned the spacer before now.

I've just had the whole front end off. I tapped the spacer back into the stanchion and re-assembled (though I should note my speedo drive had been chewed up - probably slipped out of position on my last re-assembly). Tightened the axle & pinch bolts first, then the yoke etc. Still no better.

I think you need northy to help you out or get it to a garage (not to say that you cant do it yourself, but it will probably save any more damage and you will know what the problem actualy is).

The speedo being incorectly fitted could have moved the wheel as it would not have been seated properly on the rotor (if the rotor is damaged it should only cost about £15 i think, thats what someone else posted on here). One recomendation is to get a haynes manual if you dont already have one.

ps. Hes not being arsy, but its fairly obvious what the problem is.
