My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it.

It is so tempting to up the milage on my expense claims simply to cover the actual cost.
Aah, I thought it was your private vehicle you were using. Luckily with my company we get a fuelcard that I put all my petrol on and they just work out the average rate per mile (usually about 10.5p) and times it by the number of private miles I've done and deduct it from my salary. This means I am encouraged to drive sensibly at all times so the rate per mile is lower and thus reflected in lower private miles cost. The tax on the car is ridiculous though I agree.

My company also forces me to have the car as I do lots of miles, people driving over 10,000 business miles a year are not allowed to 'opt out' and buy a car of their own choice but instead have to have one from our approved suppliers. To be fair they're not bad though. I just customised mine slightly with a 'my other car is a motorcycle' sticker! :P

What car does 14mpg?!?!?

Shame you have to burn the stuff!
Mazda RX7
Range Rover V8

Err - apart from the usual big CC petrol 4x4s I cant think what it could be...
And the newer Rx-8 only manages 22mpg - if you're careful.

ah the beauty of the rotary engine

Ah, but what you have to remember is that the Mazda is using the fuel to keep the rotor tips cool; motive power is just a happy by-product!
