If you want some inspiration on mods look at the photo album on svrider.com,
its an american site so dont know if all the mod bits and pieces would be available over here , that said there is also some very nice work the guys and girls have done.

The main mod you seem to mention is plastic panels in one shape or another.

Since you rightly say you're a biker (not many 16-17 year olds go to bike auctions - even those that ride don't for the main part), surely you understand that an off is always a risk. Liking speed increases this risk.

I personally look at it that I WILL fall off sooner or later (and have done so, and will do so again). Falling off breaks bits.

Plastics are expensive.

Are you really sure you want more plastics on the bike? If you are, fair play to you. As has been said, it's likely that even if you're fully comp, the insurance company won't pay out for aftermarket plastics.

Like i said in my opinion, get the single seat going, a high level can, lowers, a good set of decals, on a SV pointy, there is your sporty bike right there ??!!
if you want these extra gixer bits either A, buy i gixxer which you will not get insured on, ( and there is no point as you cant 33bhp it ) B, just go for the performance bits, like the forks or rear shock, you want an SV so keep it an SV in my opinion, as for the race fairing if you fall or drop it ( and you will ) it will smash to peices,

what is wrong with this?? just put a nice after market can on the side, if this isnt sporty enough, look to get another bike matey.

If it was me, I'd not get an SV and race it up, I'd get a 400 of some straw and, well, leave it alone It'll handle better, be just as fast as a restricted SV (maybe faster, some are a bit lighter) and they're reliable too. As long as you're not cramped on it, there's no reason you can't tour on one even.

You could also look at CBR600s... Not the newest ones, they'll cut you on insurance, but if you go back to an F2 or so they're still decent bikes, they actually restrict better than new ones (not as well as an SV, though) and they fit the bill for raceyness better than an SV will.

Don't get me wrong, the SV's a great bike but I'd say it doesn't fit your bill.

On the other hand, if you want to fair one up fully, I say one on SV Rider with an RS250 fairing, and it was completely ace... Good quality plastics and they nearly fitted, which is better than you'll get with a lot of race fibreglass

Now whats the point of adding that to your reply? Totally uncalled for and in my opinion, extremely petty. This is a biking forum last time i checked, not a discussion on correct use of the english written word. Which is handy for me as i cant be bothered to use capitol i's in the first person when typing.
Shame on me i guess.... but, all things considered, i do quite well, english isnt my first language.

Oh and possibly most importantly..there is no spell checker ......

EDIT: Apologies for going off topic folks. The grammer Nazi's always **** me off

Do what you want to do man.... the whole point about modding your ride is to get it the way you want it....not how your mates or others think it should look.
If you want to get a large fairing adn cut holes in it and bolt on some neons, fill yer boots.... some people will think it looks cool, and some will think you're in need of style counselling. Who cares. Its about walking over to it and liking what you see, and how it feels.

I saw a guy driving a yellow porsche the other day....and i thought to myself "what a waste of money...." then i considered....maybe he either liked yellow and didnt give a toss, or was just driving around laughing about how he could waste money on a horrible looking porsche when the rest of us oiks cant afford even a half decent one

Poly26 do a nice line in fairings for the pointy.
I did read on one of the cbr forums of a lad who took a race faring and added aftermarket lights to it....it looked excellent. Afaik it was a targa fairing set, but the point is he did it how he wanted it and it looked great.

Same with the guy here who was putting ducati exhausts on his sv... most common response was either "go for it and post pics", "or whats the point?"

Decide how YOU want your bike to look, and make it so

And remember to throw a wodge of cash at lessons/training or none of your mods will last very long in any case

So you prove, and its "capital"

But as you are a Johnny Foreigner type, I'll not mention it

But I will however argue that as this is a written medium, accuracy IS important, as its how you communicate that gives people an image of how you are.

Just like you are probably thinking I am a right tosser at the moment.

I mean major misunderstandings could come across - like the post in this thread where someone suggests a Seat Cowell - what is this Bike Idol :P

Yeah, my initial response to the orginal thread was a bit sharp, good luck to the guy, wish I had had the sense to get into biking when I was 17 instead of leaving it so late. Hope he gets his SV to look exactly how he wants it to look and just ignores negative comments about it - its all about having what you want.

lol@Bike Idol. Isnt it the mistakes that people make in the written format that provide the most unexpected humour in a text-based medium
Fair play to him i say...i couldnt afford a bike, let alone to insure one when i was that age.

I dont think you're a tosser,as you said, 'twas just a bit sharp i thought.
