Never heard of it causing any problems, should even be less stressful on the engine, the curvys restrictor simply makes it run at part-throttle (sort of)

whats rite with a 125??? ive gone straight to the bigger bike because cant see any reason waiting if i can get a restrcited sv get used to the bike den take the restrictor off when im old enough. its clear that there are different opinions on the restriction laws. im gettin quoted around 200 from the so called approved garages. i jus need to no the exact law because if i can do it myself and save £80 then its better in my pocket than theres isnt it. thanks for all the replies

Do it yourself, and if you're fussed about proving it then go do a dyno run and you'll still be £60 better off.

do you no of any dynos around the liverpool area? i also have a different exhaust on, the fella who had the bike before me made it and put a art can on sounds amazin but do you think this will affect the bhp when restricted?

Maybe a little, but it shouldn't be too hard to massage the dyno into showing <33hp, the braked types aren't at all accurate to start with, just make sure you get a printout of actual rear wheel horsepower as the "corrected" engine bhp figure is usually far too high.

my sv is restricted by air box and a throttle stop, its okay til its gets to 7k and then juders and doesnt reali pull much after that. i got told you need the certificate to prove it is restricted if you ever ger a producer. but every one has differant views on this

your top end wont really pull much on restriction that's the idea of them, its all up in the air on the certificates, i was never asked for mine for insurance ect but the plods wanted to see it when i came off, im not sure what would have happened if i produced a dyno print off.... but then again it was restricted so nothing stopping them coming and having a look

That is BS. There is no legal document of a 33bhp certificate and it is not part of the producer.
