people in Holland make me laugh.every town you go into has people buzzing every where on scooters without helmits and wearing shortskirts high heels(women of course) shorts and T shirts. The thing is though that pushbikes and scooters all have their own lanes and the right of way.Seems madness to me

Oh yeah has she read this thread?

Draggin jeans and over trousers work fine, have ridden in those in very bad weather for long distance. You look same as if you had textiles on when it's raining.

But then again, 6 miles you're not going to be that cold unless it's proper slashing down.

No she's not read this yet.

She wont wear the over trousers though and she'll be riding all year round

I bet you she will wear the over trousers after the first long ride in proper cold.

She's 16, I'll bet she won't.

+1 at least it's not the Lozzo " I told you so" scenario

So even if she refuses to wear over trousers, she's not going to freeze to death going 6 miles at 30mph (if still restricted, them engines don't like it) What's to lose?

Even though you shouldn't be pandering to her. Tell her as it is. If she doesn't like it she doesn't get the moped. It really isn't that ****ing difficult.

Buy her a push bike.

I heard that New Look are launching a trendy new line of coffins. Sell her that one.

That strikes me as a particularly unreasonable post. Do you know this 16 year old?
I got my bike when I was 17, should I have been on the road?

This is trying to be a constructive thread, why take away from that?

My 2p:
I've ridden a few times in jeans where I was riding for fun and I didn't like it, slowed down accordingly. The problem is if she starts off in jeans, there's nothing for her to accordingly ride to, if that makes any sense?

I won't take anybody out on my bike unless they're in full gear, because they're my responsibility. In the same respect I wouldn't let my kid (if I had one) out without gloves, a proper jacket, boots and of course lid. I'd also make sure that if not textile trousers, hood jeans or similar.

Like Lozzo said, she won't listen to you. I wasn't allowed a bike, and I didn't listen, but I wore full gear. Soon after my dad got a bike
