The reason is that I would rather spend the time cleaning spoked wheels (when absolutely neccessary of course) than have another pair of the unbelievably soft alloys that were on my GS.

Spike, i kinda get what you mean in the 2nd pic. I think it's just an optical illusion from the height & bulk above it compared to the (probably sports) bikes you are used to.
