Well I'm snacking on carrots at the moment... seems to help.

No orange poo yet.

Personally I believe in the build up process. Do what you can. So long as you are putting in proper effort and not giving up as soon as it starts to hurt that should be fine.

I actually think if your arms are aching the following day, you have done too much. You muscles have not had enough time to heal from the previous exercise and you are going to do it again.

Increasing muscle mass is a process of stretching and damaging them. It is the healing process that makes them bigger and stronger. Exercising with muscles that have still not recovered will achieve little.

To start it should be little and often. Work your way up. Going to hard and being in pain before you even start the exercises will mean you can't do as many as before, this in turn will hinder development and also enthusiasm to continue.

I have gone from 50 straight forward sit ups and push ups to now doing 200 stomach exercises of varying positions and types and 150 inclined push ups. Also of vary positions. I admit I have built up quickly (4 weeks) but have never been massively out of condition in the first place. I also go swimming. There is no way in hell I could have done that from the start and trying to would have ended up with me being unable to do the exercise each evening. I do these exercises 5 or 6 days a week. Always make sure I have one day free from exercise.

Just saying too much too soon can have adverse effects is all.

I've started doing 5 mile runs on my lunch break (thank god for showers at work) and it's done wonders for my legs and abs!
3 days a week, you're welcome to come along

Ideally you should allow a week for each bodypart to recover. I do each bodypart once a week but then I've been doing it a few years now. When I first started out I would do several bodyparts per evening (chest, back, legs for example) and I would go twice a week. Now I do 1 or 2 bodyparts per night and go 3 or 4 times a week. You will ache usually more so two days after you've worked out. You are tearing down the muscle and it rebuilds, if fed properly, stronger and larger than before. Like I said before, I expect to seee Beefcake Grich soon. Oh dear, I said CAKE!!

high fibre food to begin with, basically sh!t your fat out. you want to get your metabolism working faster.

if you are going to the gym then start with light weights, as you see the fat coming off, up the weights. as you start to develop 'tone' do more repartitions of said weights. as your body develops 'tone' and you want to gain muscle up the weights/repartitions slowly. your breathing has a lot to do with it aswell.

the more muscle you develop the more food you can eat... stay away from red meat (mabee once a week) and dairy products. stick to pork, chicken, past, rice etc, etc. contrary to what everyone says sugar is good in moderation. salt is another factor, if you have a high salt intake start to cut it down to a reasonable level.

and last of all 'working out' is adictive. also watch out for RSI...
