Heres a thought, you do realise that the N is geared lower than the S so its going to accelerate faster when you open the throttle at low speeds.

It had slipped my mind they were geared differently but Liz said about it after reading your first post.

It's marginal fiz, one tooth on the rear. I've got S sprockets on mine and can't tell at all.

If it is really only happening on very hard acceleration then just live with it, it's just the front suspension extending, perhaps fully. A steering damper will compromise handling under other circumstances and really isn't required.

However, if you are convinced you need one, want some 'bling', unnecessary extra weight and are happy to sacrifice some manouverability at low speed then go ahead!
Have you ever even used a steering damper??

What is with everyone's elitest attitude towards steering damapers in this thread? I had a big slapper on the track on the SV, so yes - it can happen and no amount of fiddling with my preload would have prevented it.

As for saying "it's not necessary" - says who? I pretty sure in certain circumstances you can get most bikes to slap to degree or another. It's like saying "A helmet isn't necessary, because I'm not going to crash"

I think huggers are the biggest waste of money and don't get me started on SV lowers or seat cowls! At least steering damper has some purpose to making a safer ride rather than a load of pointless plastic.

If the OP wants a steering damper, then he can go and get one.

When you say "lifting off", I take it you mean the wheel leaving the road temporarily?

Believe me I'd rather not have one, but I'd like to sort this, so if I have to buy one I will.
