I got a job involving a lot of commuting. Worked out the cost of fuel, and it was stupid.

Did some research (figured out what bike I wanted etc - and the stats for the bike - SV), and worked out I could afford to pay finance on the bike (0%), insurance, servicing, tyres and fuel, all cheaper than I could just pay for fuel in the car. Justification for the Mrs, saving in her pocket, perceived that she could spend more in the shops!

(Just didn't tell her about the possability of buying a small cheap car & running that )

Clever Mr H.

Like I said the Brother got himself a brand new GT in 77, I believed by then RAM had been swapped for more fins. Thankfully it was a proper GT and not an X7. Now my hustler was always fun a match for some baga****y with one too many cylinders.

Pity really that learners today are restricted to underpowered lawn mower engines in their bikes.

Are you sure that your current feelings aren't just caused by the bike you currently own Peter ?

I always wanted to ride and then one day (when I was 30) I just stopped being too scared of ending up in a wheelchair and learned.

My bike was mostly for fun, but then it turned into a way to get through traffic.

Originally for commuting and transport but over time it became more for the buzz and good people you meet (well most) and after 15/20 miles of stationary traffic down the m1 yesterday, thank god for bikes
