![]() Where do you get these things weighed anyway? My MOT place had something to weigh each wheel (to work out the required braking power to pass the test) - is that accurate enough? |

Bathroom scales fine. Prop the wheel you're not weighing up to the same height.

2000 GSXR you say, that would make it a "Y" wouldn't it? I've ridden one, and have to say it's a license losing bike. IMO it's tuned mainly for track use, and if you properly "ride it" ie let it rev since it's an IL4, you'll be doing stupid mph in 3rd.
I found the power deilvery to be pretty smooth though, and I reckon it was an easier ride than an SV but then I do enjoy riding IL4's. Obviously, it needs more revving than an SV to make it really go and more thought as it's that much quicker, but an easier ride all around and far superior suspension and brake set up as earlier posts. I'm of the mind that there's no need to go as big as 750 but it'll suit some people that like a bit more grunt than a 600 for 2-up riding and a bit of touring I suspect. Deffo have a go on one if you can first and see what you think. I love my 600 as you get to thrape the nuts off of it, but that doesn't suit all people as many twin riders like the lower down grunt, and seem to think that IL4's don't have any engine braking (they do, but obviously it's in the same range as the power). |

It's quite a lot of work to get it that light... Though most of it came by accident, lighter exhaust etc- total weight wasn't ever the goal til recently. Oh, it still has the steel rear subframe, for carrying luggage
