Corrected for you. And yeah, I know that's two lessons

To the OP, you were right to help your mate. Most peeps on here would have done the same. But if he does it again then avoid him when alcohol is on the menu.

Oh, and don't pick on Coolgirl. She's tougher than you

Right, off to open a bottle (or two) of wine as I don't have to go to work tomorrow

Lol I think your opinion of the caliber of higher education in general is an overestimate!

A friend is a friend at the end of the day. You saw a friend in danger and did the right thing in helping him out. I wouldn't encourage fighting in any way shape or form but if some other lowlives see it fit to start on someone and that someone is outnumbered then of course you're not going to sit by as a friend and watch him be bludgeoned within an inch of his life

Let's just hope this so called friend would do the same if you were ever in a similar situation, "a friend in need is a friend indeed" and all that. By the sounds of it you need to rethink who you go out with as a mate as I'm afraid this fella sounds like a right plantpot.

Ew. Friends and beer.
Sometime during the last century when people wore funny clothes and drank weak beer I got my friends into hospital.

The three of us were very drunk indeed and still drinking in me mates kitchen.
I decided I had had enough and was going to see my girlfriend up the road who shared a house with a couple of other girls. Off I trundle, bouncing off hedges and weaving down the pavement. Now, me mates decide that I'm in no fit state to walk off down the road.
Despite the fact that they were in exactly the same state they decided they would try and get me back to the house where I would be safe.
Witnesses describe two drunk people trying to catch up with another drunk person and it sounded hilarious.
I was a good 20 yards ahead and turned up my girlfriends garden path. I knocked the door and got no reply. No wonder as it was very late at night/early in the morning.
Twas a bungalow so I walked round to the back and knocked on the bedroom window and no one answered. Disheartened I flopped down behind the garden shed and went to sleep/passed out.
Meanwhile my mates finally make it to my grilfriends house and cant find me anywhere. While wandering around in the road wondering where I was they were put in hospital by two headbangers with base ball bats.
I woke up hours later; freezing cold as it got light. I got up and realised I was at the wrong house and walked a couple of door further up and went to my girlfriends.

Lessons I learnt?
Dont drink home made apricot spirits after getting hammered.
Dont force yourd runk friends to have to come looking for you.
Dont go knocking on the windows of the local base ball bat wielding headbangers causing them to go out looking for you and find yer mates

Is that a true story? Bloody hell! What a scrape to get yourselves into! Great story...although not great for your pals at the time!

Thulfi - you're a medic, aren't you? But I'm not sure that that makes any difference...

There are some aspects of your report that I find difficult but on balance no I wouldn't convict... especially if the original stuff was racially motivated...

If someone started beating me up I'd hope that my mates would help me out.

It is.
There's more to it as well, but that part is pretty boring and involves the law.
That part's the funniest

In that line of work (or any where your job needs an enhanced CRB check), NEVER accept a caution from old bill. Get legal advise.
