Perhaps this was years ago and has changed since, but don't you need to activate a new iphone via itunes before it'll work properly? Seem to remember I had to do this with my first iphone.

As for it being impossible to install iTunes, I can't understand why Linux and Solaris would choose to alienate such a big market such as apple users?

I need that level of simplicity for her iphone. look at a list of hosted albums from her phone, and decide which wants she wants to copy onto the phone. No intermediate devices.

Is it that difficult?
Is using Spotify an option? Looks like they do a version (although unsupported) for Linux here:

https://www.spotify.com/uk/download/previews/

Found the link below as a way of importing your mp3 files into spotify and then syncing it in offline mode on your phone.

https://support.spotify.com/uk/learn...to-local-files

Seems a bit over the top but might be worth a try.

Not anymore mate. they do it all via the cloud network now. technically you can run your phone with a PC at all but the issues then comes with music and other things.

Spotify on the iPhone is paid for.

Have a google for senuti (iTunes backwards) guy in an apple reseller once told me I can find that and transfer the songs off an iPhone without iTunes so might be able to put them on to an iPhone?

Just checked my wife's iphone (not updated to iOS 7 yet) and previously you could swipe either way. Now it's only right to left

Im not familiar with linux at all however i know a few people who dual boot linux and windows... an option?
I have also heard of using an emulator to run a windows program... not 100% on the logistics of that but again another option??

Or jailbreak the phone (and void the warranty!)

To add to the geekdom and my excitement of iOS 7, I now have a shiny new iPhone 5s

Someone please tell me in the real world, wtf is the fuss all about ios7? C'mon, really, is it that much different? I'm sick of reading on fb and elsewhere of people rushing to download and saying its brilliant etc.

I just don't get it tbh, you can still use the Internet and make a call I presume, so what's different apart from how it looks?
