Etc... All poo really, but timeless classics that everyone loves the watch..
The Goonies I love that film too, although it's not as good as Top Gun of course.

What about The Lost Boys? That's one of my faves too and that's proper cheesy

You need to buy the sound track.

Cringeworthy toss, i'd say the sales of the film from when it was brought out would tell you otherwise

But if you think Top Gun is bad, then you haven't seen any American Films from the last 10 years
I'm sure I've still got the sound track somewhere at home I used to sing along quite merrily to that (very badly though )
"Take my bread awayyyyyyyyyy...."

When Top Gun came out (I was 16) I thought it was one of the best films ever made.
I probably held that view until I watched the other night (probably 10 years since I'd last seen it) It made me cringe, it was just so cheesy and embarrassing.

As for the soundtrack, Otis Redding's Dock of the Bay is a timeless classic and a brilliant song, I will even reluctantly admit that I like Kenny Loggins "Dangerzone"
As for the rest of the soundtrack I stand by my earlier comments.

Unfortunately I have seen a lot of American films in the last 10 years, and I agree, sadly most of them are worst than Top Gun.

The Replacement is the F-18 Super Hornet. I have heard nothing of a Navy F-22 Raptor.[/quote]

Strange. Many U.S. carriers run the Hornet along side the Tomcat. I thought the Tomcat was used for CAP and Interception and the Hornet for deep strike missions. I also saw a documentary about the new breed of US carriers (CV52?)and they will outfit the F22's with tail hooks so they can be used by the Navy.

My favourite jet for looks is the A4 Skyhawk or F86/F Sabre and F101C Super Sabre. Can't wait for Farnborough Air show. Handy I live in Farnborough!

I think my favourite all time cheesy film though has to be Iron Eagle! Class!

if they made any hollywood movies acurate they would be very boring and short!
people would die with one shot! airplanes would run out of fuel! and the girls in so called scary movies would never get naked and into the shower when in the house alone with a murderer on the loose!

and that just wouldnt be playing cricket!

lol

None of these are cheesy - Just quality 80s TV/film. Also

Ferris Buellers Day Off
Breakfast Club
Flight Of The Navigator
Never Ending Story
Gremlins
Karate Kid
Back To The Future
Labyrinth

Ferris Buellers Day Off - Excellent
Breakfast Club - Excellent - (espeac Judd Nelson)
Flight Of The Navigator - Great (despite Willem Dafoes dodgey tash, Danny Glover character is brilliant)
Never Ending Story - Gruyere alert !!!!!
Gremlins - Never seen it
Karate Kid - Good
Back To The Future - Awsome
Labyrinth - Slight wiff of cheddar

Well in 1986, Glasnost hadnt happened and the Russians weren't going to let Hollywood film their Migs so the producers had to have a bit of dramatic licence.

These days, they probably could get proper Migs involved.

But yes it has been mentioned by the aircraft boffs
