Don't know if you were consenting or not but I'm sure you had the situation well in hand.

Thats the idea but some girls at 11/13 their physical make up and bone structure cannot take the pressures of childbirth and carrying a full term baby. Well thats what i got told - not saying i'm right cos it make me wonder too??
Canadian Laws sounds good but if we implemented something like that do you think it would work? as how many youngsters actually get prosecuted for having under age sex. We only ever seem to hear about the older male being done ( normally duped)

So if 35% of the people on here are sex offenders, according to the poll results,I hope you have all registered and not working with children.

Only 5 people out of 72 are in that bracket by my reckoning?!

Corrected to apply to teens......

Hormones is hormones and some people mature more quickly than others, both physically and emotionally. My first was the youngest I've known in age terms but not in terms of maturity. We're still friends 30 years later and neither of us regret it. At least, that's what she tells me

The law has drawn a line in the sand when really it should have drawn a fuzzy patch.

Sure glad my offspring are boys otherwise I'd have had to set up some electric fencing around the house. And put a block on outgoing calls from the phone.

Loosing your virginity below 16 whilst illegal, you are not deemed old enough to be accountable. By sleeping with somebody below 16, when you yourself are 16 or over, then you are, so Carty is right, only 5 people here could be convicted of an offence.

Even that is 7% of the replies here though. Assuming this sample group is representative of the population at large (which it's probably not but it's all we have to go on), it concludes that 7% of the population, or 4.2 million people in the UK are sex offenders because of a relationship they had as a teenager. The law on this is wrong and needs updated to something more like what the Canadians have. How can a government expect young people to respect a law, which is a joke?

And for those who say it isn't happening and only older men get convicted, I've just found some stats. In one year 496 heterosexual men were cautioned for sleeping with a girl below the age of sixteen. 205 of those were prosecuted and convicted. 16 of them were aged 17 or under. So fair enough 480 of them were basically paedophiles and deserved it, or perhaps they got duped, but those 16 young teenagers now have criminal records and may be on the sex offenders register, affecting career prospects, etc. We are convicting teenagers for this at a rate of 4 every 3 months.

If your 17yr old gets caught sleeping with his/her 15 yr old partner, under whatever circumstances, start getting worried. The justice system seems to have no common sense.
