Lots of Hondas get called that. The proof is in the riding.
If what they look like and the type of bike appeal to you (if you're looking at the S4R then the type is similar) you should try it and see if it suits you.

If I were you I'd ignore subjective descriptions of bikes unless you know how that persons opinions relate to your own.

I suppose the real drawback of the Firestorm is that it's neither an SP-2 or an SV thou. Until the thou came along it was a contender, but personally I reckon it's been aced. It does have the fact that it's not made of special Suzuki metal going for it though

I can't say I'm a fan on the firestorm, but I haven't ridden one yet, and it may be a contender for my next bike, since they're quite cheap to obtain.

Cloggsy...That's one sexy bike that Duke isn't it? the servicing costs for the motor are a tadge more than with the 2 valve motors largely due to when it comes to belt changing(suggested at 2 year intervals but have seen many peeps on Ducati sites that ridicule that) due to them having to be adjusted correctly by being pluged in to a machine which advises the correct tension due to ahertz reading...clever hey?

I personally like the Monster with the 2 valve motor and as mentioned look at that one of Shooters! Despite Jonboy suggesting that the older donk is crap! It has all the go than you will ever want to use.

Firestorm have character, terrible tank range, not brilliant in the bends due to low ground clearance. Despite all that just like the Falco you get a whole lot of bike and poke for your cash.

p.s.Go look at www.speedzilla.com and read the boards on there...so many people with high mileage Dukes with hardly a missed beat! Ducati reliability an issue? Dont fink so!

Read a review in T.W.O that compared a Buell Firebolt ( I think ) the SV thou SZ and a firestorm

Guess which bike they liked best....

Twas the Firestorm

Seriously, have looked at VFR 800's - Firestorms always seem to get a slating for being 'bland'
Contrary to popular belief, you can have a lot of fun on a VFR. I tested it 3 times and always brought it back with a big grin on my face, and the sound it makes with some decent cans is astonishing.

Very comfortable, long tank range, and nice looking. Plus, it's a Honda..

A 160mph motorcycle bland? Processed Cheese is bland!!!!!

Yes, it's a Honda...but you can always hide the tank badge with tape.

And bungee a jerry can on the pillion seat.

For the cash and the speed and build quality, a Firestorm must be good vfm. Can be picked up for very little nowadays.

Upi can have fun on anything, if you're not too worried about people tell you is good or bad, I find. I used to have a load of fun on my rubbish 125 because it handled like a trials bike at low speed, for example

The Monster's nice... But the air-cooled models were nicer. Less good engine, but the new one's so cluttered with the radiator.

an off the wall suggestion - i did see a fully faired bandit 1200 a while back, and it looked... interesting. I can't find any references to a full fairing online though.

Looked like a sports tourer, masses of grunt. But yes its an IL4 and an air-cooled one at that...
