I know some of it goes to dodgy back street garages but I am sure most of it goes on ebay. No shortage of people on bike forums bragging about all the bargains they got on ebay but what goes around comes around...

If I drop my bike I will pay more to get my parts from a reputable dealer because if I help maintain demand for nicked parts then my bike could be next. No doubt many Gixxer owners will be repairing their accident damage on the cheap this summer courtesy of the thread starter so I hope they can sleep at night.

The bottom line is that the final recipient of stolen parts is always going to be other bikers so lets not blame the thieving scum as they are just satisfying the demand of the real scum who are out for a bargain and don't ask questions.
...and todays idiotic sweeping statement is brought to you by Toypop.

Yeah because Vauxhall Corsa owners are going to be buying her Gixxer parts aren't they?

Not making light of what has happened to her, I have had a bike nicked and was absolutely gutted and livid at the same time.

So if peeps didn't want bargains the 'Thieving scum would become law abiding citizens?

I can't get me ed around this sorry, thieving scum are well.. just thieving scum, if they don't take your bike they 'll take something else and that is not right in my book sorry.

Nope I still can't see the logic in not blaming the thieving @ssholes, having been a victim of this that TOOK ME OFF THE SODDING ROAD on two wheels and made me pay a fortune to insure a METRO for years because the *******s broke into my garage and took two bikes! Sorry I just cannot understand this. Nope, they should injure their genitalia and remove them from the gene pool, maybe over time this might be a better place.

OK I've said my lot! I've had just about enough as I'm sure Kate has as well.

If you thieve you thieve. Nothing right about it, no matter how you look at it. I've wanted a bike ever since I saw a Ducati 916 for the first time in MCN.

I waited and waited until I could get my licence and afford one

Because its fairer, and, in the long run, less hassle.

Matt

sorry to hear about this Kate. Thats one beautiful gixxer.

Amazing that no one heard anything, you'd think the alarm would sound for a at least a few seconds while they disconnect it.

I don't think I could leave a bike like that outside all night and sleep !! It's got to be a pro job who took it considering your security. Kate, once you get it replaced by the insurance you need to think about if you could keep it else-where out of site and under cover. Sometimes even a tatty old black bike cover can help to hide that something special is underneath. Most passers just assume a tatty commuter bike to match the tatty cover.

What about tracking devices for bikes. Are they worth it or too expensive.... Parts can be protected with microdots I guess to deter breaking it up. Gutted as its a stunning bike.

the tracking devices are now about £400 to fit plus about £80 a year maintanence...

its something i would buy no qustions asked if i was to buy a new bike..

Although 3 blokes can strip a bike dead quick, so they might find it,, or the police will recover a frame and your tracker... its tough call. There are also rumors that if you send the frame live with a high voltage you can blow them up... but i have never seen or heard any evidence...!

Kate, im very sorry to hear about the loss i know that oh feck wheres it gone, i must have parked it else where, who did i leand it to... oh cack that means its been pinched story all to well... never forget the rage too. Fingers crossed the ins companies dont make your life to hard.. and ur back on two wheels soon..

Sorry to hear this Kate. Christ knows how you must feel... I had an MG stolen once, and that was bad enough, God knows what I'd do if somebody took the bike.

I just hope that you either get back as it was or never see it again (you don't want anywhere in between) and the scummy peasants who stole get all they deserve.
