I understand you were helping the locals, but why on earth are the taxpayers paying for it? (Not a dig at you - i'd jump at the chance!). The island has a weeny population and exports huge amounts of liquids at £35/litre+. It must be loaded!
The sort of tasks we were doing there, there isn't the skills on the island or too few quilifyed people to do them, so no local builders trademen were losing out.
We did the tasks to keep our boys hands in their trade, as sitting around at work doing same all same all routine you get trade fade.
The owners of the propertys paid for the all the materials but we provided the Labour free.
Then after we finish we get the use of there land for training in future so win win all round.

Yes... Dr Rich, it was and we won the Islands hearts & minds... NOT

I think by the time we left they might have been glad to have seen the back of us. Apart from the local landloard Ian from the Lochindaal Hotel in Port Charlotte,

My New Fav is Bunnahabhain 12 year old...

£1 cheaper in Tescos than at the Distillery..... work that one out ?
